Ari Lehman, born on May 2, 1965, in New York City, is an American actor and musician renowned for portraying the original Jason Voorhees in the 1980 horror classic Friday the 13th. At just 14 years old, Lehman delivered a memorable performance as the young Jason, emerging from Crystal Lake in the film’s iconic final scene.

Early Life and Career

Raised in Westport, Connecticut, Lehman developed a passion for music early on, training in classical and jazz piano. His dedication earned him an All-State Award for Excellence in Jazz Piano and a scholarship to Berklee School of Music. Lehman’s entry into acting came when he auditioned for and secured a role in Sean S. Cunningham’s film Manny’s Orphans, which led to his casting as Jason Voorhees.

Music Career

After his acting debut, Lehman pursued a career in music, performing with various reggae and African music artists. He later formed his own punk metal band, First Jason, where he serves as lead vocalist and keytarist, blending his love for horror and music.
