Richard Brooker, born on November 20, 1954, in London, England, was a talented actor and stuntman best known for his groundbreaking portrayal of Jason Voorhees in “Friday the 13th Part III.” Before his acting career, Brooker was a skilled trapeze artist, which contributed to his physical agility and presence on screen. He later transitioned into directing and producing, notably working on series such as “Bill Nye the Science Guy.”
In “Friday the 13th Part III,” Richard Brooker became the first actor to wear the now-iconic hockey mask as Jason Voorhees. His performance added a new dimension to the character, making Jason more menacing and memorable. Brooker’s portrayal involved extensive makeup sessions and performing his own stunts, showcasing his dedication and versatility as an actor.
