Crystal Lake Season One Wraps Filming

Crystal Lake (2025)

Brad Caleb Kane confirms Crystal Lake has wrapped Season One, teasing an epic end to A24’s Friday the 13th prequel for Peacock.

It’s finally happening — after decades of development limbo, the Friday the 13th saga has officially reached a new milestone. The first season of Crystal Lake, the highly anticipated A24-produced prequel series, just celebrated its wrap party this past weekend.

Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane took to Instagram to share his excitement, calling the event “epic” and praising his team of collaborators:

While Kane jokingly described the season as “almost sorta not quite” done, the post marks the clearest signal yet that production is in its final stretch. Filming began in June 2025, and insiders expect completion before year’s end — meaning the blood-soaked marketing machine is likely to start revving up very soon.

Produced by A24 in partnership with Peacock (U.S.) and Sky (U.K. & Ireland), Crystal Lake promises a grounded, atmospheric exploration of the Voorhees legacy — long before Jason donned the hockey mask. The series is set primarily between 1970 and 1971, diving into the twisted roots of Camp Crystal Lake and the doomed mother-son bond that ignited a horror icon.

Described as an “expanded prequel,” the show will reportedly blend multiple interpretations of Jason — including versions familiar to longtime fans — with a more psychological take on grief, isolation, and small-town dread.

Adding to the intrigue, there are whispers of unannounced cast members who have yet to be revealed through official channels. Given A24’s penchant for secrecy and surprises, the franchise faithful can expect some knives to drop when the time is right.

As the waters of Camp Crystal Lake still for now, one thing’s certain: when the ripples return, they’ll carry with them the birth of a legend.

Stay tuned to Friday the 13th Legacy for every chilling update from the lake.
