Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane shared a brief update on A24’s Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake. Scripts are underway, with filming tentatively set for Summer 2025.

The highly anticipated Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake, is progressing under the vision of new showrunner Brad Caleb Kane, who was brought on by A24 this past August. On December 13, Kane offered a brief update via Instagram about the status of the series, leaving fans eager for more details.

Happy Friday the 13th (to those who celebrate!) wish I could give a more substantial update but mum’s the word. Suffice it to say the story’s been broken, scripts have been and are being written, and the goal is to give the fans (including myself) a tense, scary, bloody and satisfying ride that’s well worth the wait. More news to come in the new year,” Kane wrote.

Filming for Crystal Lake is tentatively planned for Summer 2025, with the potential for episodes to begin airing in Fall 2025, according to the fansite Friday The 13th Franchise. However, this timeline has not been officially confirmed.

Initially slated for a 2024 release, the series was delayed due to retooling and a change in creative direction. A24 and Peacock remain committed to bringing the series to life, ensuring fans a tense and bloody return to Camp Crystal Lake that lives up to the franchise’s legacy.

Stay tuned for more updates in early 2025 as Crystal Lake moves closer to production.
